Skoodles of Doodles

Woah yeez! 'Tis the season for doodles! I just got my new Bamboo in the mail and soon I'll be getting Corel Painter and THEN I shall finally get to honing my digital art skills. Starting with background paintings.

postin' it

Little random sketches and my new favorite moth girl <3
Thistle had its festival debut on November 5th! It was shown at both the 13th Annual Milwaukee Short Film Festival and the Ferndale Film Festival. So exciting! ....even if I wasn't able to attend. These are the first two of what I hope to be many many more. I'll keep everyone updated as I hear from other festivals.

Mothra's Daughter

A doodle I got pretty excited about. Moth girl loves flame person; It's a love that I can get behind!

Sorry about the gap in the updates. I recently got a job that has me waking up at 4 am and I'm still trying to adjust. Maybe I'll try for something Halloween themed soon.

A Detour Into Real Things

So I don't know if you guys knew, BUT! I sometimes try to make 3 dimensional objects. Above ware my sketch plans for pigeons and below are the prototypes. Unfortunately, I don't get a ton of time to sew, there may be more of these in the future, though, especially now that I have a couple old skirts I'd like to cannibalize.

This guys name is cHrap (pronounced 'trap')

And this is Scone!! I had one more named eerks, but it seems I forgot to take pictures of him. Eerks will come downtown with me for a photo shoot soon.

Flowers, ink, and all

Got some Background sketches for my next project. They turned out nice, liking how it's going, just got the wrong aspect ratio...hehe Still haven't learned my lesson of thinking things through before jumping in it seems. So I'm gonna be revising these, but over all they'll be very similar.

News too! Oh news, about Thistle of course. I got accepted into my first festival ever!! Super exciting and the beginning of what I hope will be a fruitful tour for my little thistle girl. It's the 13th Annual Milwaukee Short Film Festival!! It's happening soon, so check it out: here!

Also ponies starts up again tomorrow! I did a little Pinkie Pie anthro commission for my sister. Looking forward to the weekends of animated magic to come!

My Favorite Animal

The 'my favorite animal' subject seems to come up a lot in memes and while I find myself usually enamored with several animals at any given time, I find Maned Wolves to be very intriguing and endearing to me. One reason might be, as much as I've tried, I have a severely hard time drawing them. The anatomy is always off-ish! Legs too long, not long enough, coloring looks too foxy, face too much like a coyote, etc. They really are an odd species. This drawing was done heavily relying on photographic aid hehe

Check out the neat noise they make too!

Sulf Portrayt?

Did a self portrait today. After a long hiatus of no self portraits.
I'm extremely slowly kind of wrapping my head around digital coloring. Still didn't quite turn out how I had imagined, but I'm getting closer and closer.

My brother told me I look like an anthropomorphized lamb in this, and, quite frankly, I like it.

Putting sketch back in 'blog'

Sometimes it's hard being a hippo and wanting to fit in with all the cool taller animals

This lady is a character I'm hashing out for a possible weekly comic series. I'm really hoping it gets green-lighted eventually, but until then I practice practice.

Little painting I did to thank my Aunt and Uncle for the wonderful trip to Seattle.

Practice pratice

A simple and tiny goat and dog.

In addition to storyboarding this film I'll be practicing some 4 panel comics.
Should prove to be very stimulating!

Sometimes Office Supplies are my friends

So here's another new character, Remover Berd!
Truth be told, I pictured a lot of inanimate objects as birds including scissors and
compasses as a wee child.

It looks like after some soul searching I've decided to put the pot-and-pan dinosaur project aside to instead pursue my love of office supply creatures.
No regrets.

Also! Today I sent off my very first DVD submission of Thistle to a local short film festival. I feel like pacing the floor with a cigarette in my mouth as those classic cartoons of fathers eagerly awaiting a baby's arrival usually do.

5 Down

I'm doing a little experiment where I draw a small finished piece per day for 30 days. Going very well so far I'm surprised my brain hasn't dried up already! Expect lots of Scissors Goat and Hammer Dog as well. Lots of Copics too! I got a new color set and I love playing with them.

Here we have the sign to the Shears and Hammer Pub.
Followed by a parody: The Goat in Captivity. I love those tapestries
