First Inklings

The film is nearing completion! As promised, here are the first doodles I did of my Thistle girl.

She was much happier when I first thought her up and she wore clothes too. Somewhere along the lines I decided to ditch her outfit entirely after revising it a couple times. Made her a more somber, less child-like character too.

Very ballet-inspired.

I'll post some more Thistle Sketches soon!

Working working

Well, as most of you know, I'm working hard on my Thistle film. Hopefully it'll be done soon. Here's a little sum'n sum'n in the mean time:

Just having fun with graphite and some neat paper Tim gave me. I was thinking on some questions running through my mind recently and this image of a bear popped in my head. It came out fairly close to what I was imagining, so I'm pretty pleased with it.

Next post: maybe some preliminary Thistle sketches

A short and semi-sweet

I recently had a table at the RMCAD Art and Music Festival and, all things considered, it went pretty well! Here's what my table set up looked like:
Thank you to all the people that bought pigeons and supported me!

Copics are the best

I love copic markers for sketching. These are two preliminary sketches of characters for my video game concept. Pastel (purple hair) loves to collect vintage aprons, but she hates sewing. Her hair kind of harkens back a little to Lady Lovely Locks huh? Hahaha I just now noticed that. Interesting how much childhood shapes what we do now. She's definitely one of my most favorite characters to draw.

no good blog is complete without giraffe sketches

Drawing the giraffes is a must for every zoo trip

These are some pretty old sketches, done about 2-3 years ago. I had almost forgotten about my patch girl character. I like a girl who can cut her own hair.

The pen, ultimate

I'm working on figuring out a character I want to film. Some sort of lounge singer with curly fingers and lots of curves. Started sketching a cliff, but it was looking more like bed sheets, so an upside-down bed was made:
