Lizard Research and Kitchen-ware

I got a season pass to the zoo! Mostly to study reptiles for my dinosaurs.

Lizards really have interesting anatomy. Their elbows look so...human-like.

And a birdie for good measure with two preliminary character sketches.

Brushes of Air

Recently I got a Copic Airbrush which I absolutely adore! I've never done airbrushing before, so I'm still getting a feel for it and I think I'll challenge myself to do they backgrounds in my new film all in airbrush :x We'll see how it goes. I haven't even messed with stencils yet. Just free-handing little ink sketched mostly

Also, I must say I'm completely in love with my hammer dog and his nemesis: Scissor Goat!
So enamored, in fact....I almost want to ditch pot-and-pan-dinosaurs to just animate these guys.................but I must persevere! Rest assured, though, there WILL be film of them in the future.

Hammer Dog!

I was thinking back to old days and remembered the hammer dog I doodled so long ago (freshman year in college), so I thought I'd resurrect him, give him a new coat and post him out there. His best friend is a middle-age man named Nick.

Even though I'm sleepy I must sleep walk ever forward.

That's my pulp fiction calendar in the corner.

Paper talks

I forgot to mention this in my last post, but the paper I used for the backgrounds in my posters is really neat and deserves mention. It's called YUPO paper and it's actually a plastic-ish paper...very different to work with especially when it comes to watercolors. Gives everything a very inky look and it keeps the colors very bright and vibrant. I got mine at Meininger's in Denver, if you can get a hold of some yourself I highly recommend trying it.

Here's a website with a more coherent description than mine

Poster Posts

Here I am again talking about my film! Hehehe I'm just going to keep teasing you guys ....Then eventually the actual film. What I've been doing lately is mostly working on a whole new film and I'm playing around with the idea of blogging the steps I go through as I progress. Kind of a "This is How Sarah Makes a Film" blog. Maybe...

I also made posters for Thistle!

With the latest in accidental reflection technology

I think this one featuring the thistle girl is my fave. The composition turned out nicely I think. Starling poster composition though, not so good.
But I was very happy with the little thistle seeds.

The simplicity of the pigeon poster is exactly as I pictured it! <3

Enough about me. I want to use the rest of this space to do some artist pimping. My good friend Nami of Naminational fame is currently cooking up what is looking to be an awesome web comic. I did a little fan doodle of Tadi, the main character, and her cat familiar.
So you should go give it a read!

Give her some web traffic love over here:

Alright next time....pot and pan dinosaurs?

Good-nuss!

After a teensy rest I bring you: My first attempt at a coherent comic! It's pretty exciting :3 Most of you have probably already seen this on my devart, but if not check these out! I was just sketching around a few characters when their story started to come to mind. I wanted to do a simple short of a moment of happiness in a life that is otherwise beset with hardships.

Here's a little preview of the first page. Click it to check out the full comic on devart (it's awesome!)
