More Paper Dolls, please!

After some experimentation, jointed paper dolls may become a forte of mine and, one hopes, a future source of modest income. More experimentation is needed, though. Bristol paper was used this time on Marcey and P.B. but the texture is all wrong, so I'm thinking I won't be using it again. The water color paper is not quite strong enough. Maybe if I reinforce it with something... These were made for my little sis :)
And they don't have clothes quite yet.

Dean COMMAND: the puppet

I finished my Dean COMMAND puppet recently for the lovely Rosemary Travale. Check her out over here: http://www.rosemarytravale.ca/
It brought back so many wonderful memories of working on Thistle and making puppets.

In fact my plan is to make a whole bunch of differing naked Thistles, take them on my trip, and post pictures of them whilst I travel. It's gonna be amazing. Oh! Also! That pattern with the poisonous vials behind Dean was bought at my favorite crafts store, Fancy Tiger Crafts, so if you're ever in the Denver are you gotta go check 'em out and buy something too!

Barn Owl Puppet

By far my favorite puppet in Thistle, the barn owl. I had such fun making him <3

I really want to frame him against one of the large scale back drops I did, but with so many moving parts and pieces I think I'd have to glue him or sew him all together....kind of a saddening thought.

postin' it

Little random sketches and my new favorite moth girl <3
Thistle had its festival debut on November 5th! It was shown at both the 13th Annual Milwaukee Short Film Festival and the Ferndale Film Festival. So exciting! ....even if I wasn't able to attend. These are the first two of what I hope to be many many more. I'll keep everyone updated as I hear from other festivals.

Brushes of Air

Recently I got a Copic Airbrush which I absolutely adore! I've never done airbrushing before, so I'm still getting a feel for it and I think I'll challenge myself to do they backgrounds in my new film all in airbrush :x We'll see how it goes. I haven't even messed with stencils yet. Just free-handing little ink sketched mostly

Also, I must say I'm completely in love with my hammer dog and his nemesis: Scissor Goat!
So enamored, in fact....I almost want to ditch pot-and-pan-dinosaurs to just animate these guys.................but I must persevere! Rest assured, though, there WILL be film of them in the future.

This book isn't exactly ideal for scanning

But we'll carry on any how. Just a few sketches. Some of moles that I hope to develop further.

They're hard working little minions, those moles. Prone to being too cold no matter where they are, they often pick up discarded scarves, jackets, or pillow cases to warm their bones

Sometimes I'm some sort of fashion designer...

For fun and inspired by Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Neptune
