News and Set Backs

Oh man! I was so looking forward to posting a nice finished digital piece, but now my Painter12 program decided it doesn't want to allow me to paint anymore...So instead here are some sketches...

I took a trip to my local museum to do some goat studies. They also had an exhibit featuring live lizards and snakes! The geckos were extra awesome.

Also.......I have a confession to make. I love drawing girls with huge heads in profile. Every time I doodle I feel the need to do at least one.....giant noses and eyes are my favorite

Now, as for the news bit, I've got to let everyone know the next three upcoming festivals Thistle will be a part of!

Savannah International Animation Festival

Portland Oregon Women's Film Festival

Boston International Film Festival

If any of these neat festivals are near you, check 'em out! If I can swing it I might try to make it to one....times are expensive. Hopefully Painter will be up and working again for me soon and I can get back to regular updates. I have an exciting fun illustration project I want to be posting about :3

5 Down

I'm doing a little experiment where I draw a small finished piece per day for 30 days. Going very well so far I'm surprised my brain hasn't dried up already! Expect lots of Scissors Goat and Hammer Dog as well. Lots of Copics too! I got a new color set and I love playing with them.

Here we have the sign to the Shears and Hammer Pub.
Followed by a parody: The Goat in Captivity. I love those tapestries

This week in birds...

Working on some flamingo caricatures.

The double wattled cassowary was sitting right up front in his exhibit a few days ago. I was so excited! It was the first time I had actually seen him up close and his colors are so vibrant. In this sketch I messed with the shape of his head decor a little.

Lizard Research and Kitchen-ware

I got a season pass to the zoo! Mostly to study reptiles for my dinosaurs.

Lizards really have interesting anatomy. Their elbows look so...human-like.

And a birdie for good measure with two preliminary character sketches.
