Good-nuss!

After a teensy rest I bring you: My first attempt at a coherent comic! It's pretty exciting :3 Most of you have probably already seen this on my devart, but if not check these out! I was just sketching around a few characters when their story started to come to mind. I wanted to do a simple short of a moment of happiness in a life that is otherwise beset with hardships.

Here's a little preview of the first page. Click it to check out the full comic on devart (it's awesome!)

This book isn't exactly ideal for scanning

But we'll carry on any how. Just a few sketches. Some of moles that I hope to develop further.

They're hard working little minions, those moles. Prone to being too cold no matter where they are, they often pick up discarded scarves, jackets, or pillow cases to warm their bones

Shrinky Dinks!

Not really, though. I just wanted everyone to see my tiny easel and tiny painting...and my turquoise nail polish

Spoiler Alert? More Thistle pre-vis

Ok so! Here I am again after a long relaxing holiday and with more Thistle related sketches. As far as updates on the actual film: Tim Jom Campbell (of Solo Tri Mono fame) is currently hard at work on the soundtrack for Thistle. It's going to be awesome you guys. I cannot put into text how freakin' stoked I am to have him working with me on Thistle. Rawks. On to the sketches!

first little brainstorm for the various birds I wanted to feature

Thumbnails for backgrounds and a teeny owl puppet design

Planning out the key frames for a bird landing

Always love figuring out storyboards. This one was done near the end of the film actually. I had to re-visualize a certain scene.

Sometimes I'm some sort of fashion designer...

For fun and inspired by Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Neptune

First Inklings

The film is nearing completion! As promised, here are the first doodles I did of my Thistle girl.

She was much happier when I first thought her up and she wore clothes too. Somewhere along the lines I decided to ditch her outfit entirely after revising it a couple times. Made her a more somber, less child-like character too.

Very ballet-inspired.

I'll post some more Thistle Sketches soon!

Working working

Well, as most of you know, I'm working hard on my Thistle film. Hopefully it'll be done soon. Here's a little sum'n sum'n in the mean time:

Just having fun with graphite and some neat paper Tim gave me. I was thinking on some questions running through my mind recently and this image of a bear popped in my head. It came out fairly close to what I was imagining, so I'm pretty pleased with it.

Next post: maybe some preliminary Thistle sketches
